I am a physical scientist at a small technology company that makes soil and water sensors and data acquisition systems. I develop new products, analyze product data, and do tech support, sales, and business development.
I perform research on prospective new products, applications and concepts for cloud-based data hosting. I analyze competitor’s products and review intellectual property for stakeholders.
My current job is very data-intensive requiring quantitative solutions. Data science and machine learning approaches offers many solutions for the enhancement of sensor performance, error detection in finished product, and end user data interpretation.
My data-driven solutions directly foster sales, enhance product offerings, and identify and quantify quality-control problems, which ultimately helps customers understand their data.
I am entrepreneurial. I look for sales opportunities whenever possible and I currently manage about a dozen international distributors. I primarily focus on soil sensors and the data acquisitions systems for soil and meteorological monitoring.
Technical Communicator
I communicate the technical aspects of my company’s products in a simple way that drives sales. I write journal articles and present at conferences, and also formulate messaging included in the sales literature that's directed toward customers.
I specialize in environmental data sets. Soil-water movement is a very complex physical process which influences agriculture, water resources, weather, habitat, and drought. Check out my publications and recent projects.
Quantitative Scientific Approach
I review patents and intellectual property for stakeholders and investors. I figure out how the technology works at a technical level discovering strengths and weakness in regards to functionality, market positioning, manufacturing and product support.
Technical Support
Supporting customers of technology is key to reoccurring sales and generates new sales.
I review sensor data and trouble shoot field data, and suspect data to identify and solve problems. I review and influence new revisions of sensors and data acquisitions systems prior to going to production to ensure that the new product is competitive, while being supportable and manufacturable
Business Development, Sales, and Marketing
Bringing new products to market fosters improvements to the technology and brings the benefits of the solution to
society. Messaging the latest science behind a product into the sales and marketing channels and literature helps the customer community engage with the technology.
